Ariane graduated from the Universite Paris Dauphine and worked for some of the most prestigious financial groups before becoming Executive Director at Goldman Sachs in London. Ariane was rapidly rising through the ranks of the financial industry and on the trajectory to success.
Everything changed however when Ariane relocated to Hong Kong. She immediately fell in love with the city and it’s unique energy. She was quickly dismayed however to discover a distinct lack of choices available for good quality, stylish women’s fashion. There was fast fashion, which she could not relate to and luxury brands, which were not accessible to everyone or appropriate for everyday wear. Where was the shop for the stylish and independent woman? It was this need that inspired Ariane to open Rue Madame, a shop with a wide array of brands and styles in a warm, and approachable environment.
Such a jump from the finance world to the one of fashion seems unexpected; however the craft of the shopkeeper is something that was deep rooted in Ariane’s DNA. Ariane’s childhood was spent in her father’s fabric shop “Rodin” nestled in the heart of Paris, in the prestigious Avenue des Champs Elysees. This institution was founded in 1950 by her grandfather, who was famous for offering the widest range of innovative products from opulent one of a kind fabrics crafted in Italy, to the newest prints designed and sourced from across the globe. Growing up amongst the rolls of brocade and silks, her favourite childhood memories were those spent sitting with her father to make the product selections and then seeing the fashionable women's excitement on discovering the latest fashion trends.
It was this that inspired her to create a place of her own for the modern woman, a haven, where the shopkeeper became a friend and confident to her customers and that stocked only the best products and services, where the clothes were of beautiful quality affordable price-point and designed, to be enjoyed and appreciated for years to come and so Rue Madame was born!
