Sea New York designed by Sean Monahan is a relaxed line of classic separates with a flirtatious twist; seasonal collections that evokes the spirit and eclectism of New York.
Monahan studied finance at University, before joining New York Society of Security Analysts based on Wall Street, later diversifying to a career in marketing between New York and Switzerland. In 2004 Sean’s career took a creative turn after a chance meeting with a casting agent later led him to pursue a career in the fashion industry, casting for a number of US designers including Betsey Johnson and Binetti.
Founded in the fall of 2006 Sea New York was originally created by Monahan for close female friends, based on the simple ethos of ‘clothes that made girls smile.’ The collection quickly won the affection of an army of model fans who loved the easy to wear collections, as well as Barneys who were one of the label’s first stockists.
Accidentally immersed within the heart of NY’s fashion industry, SEA NY has amassed an impressive support network within design, distribution and casting. Designers from Betsey Johnson and Dior consult on Sea, which is now sold globally.
